 Tests that you should undertake regularly after age 30

How to choose a health check-up package that is relevant for you?
 
Even if you feel healthy, screening tests are recommended after 30 for early detection and prevention of life threatening diseases which may appear now or later.
 
Diabetes After 30 years diabetes check up is recommended every 3 years.
 
Heart diseases- recommended to all healthy adults every 2-5 years. If there is a history of heart ailments in the family or personal history of heart problems then the test should be done more frequently after taking a doctor’s opinion on the frequency.
 
The following tests should be conducted to detect any heart related ailments:
ECG
Echo- for evaluating abnormalities of heart.
Stress test- for evaluating function of heart
CT testing/Angiogram - to detect and prevent risk of heart diseases.
 
Glaucoma- This test can help in prevention of undetected loss of vision.
 
Blood pressure- It is done to detect hypertension. If you are a healthy adults with blood pressure range of >130 and >85 you should have blood pressure monitored every year.
 
High risk individuals with blood pressure above 130 and above 85 should be checked every 3 months.
 
CholesterolShould be done every 3 years for adults to prevent and detect the risk of heart problems and stroke
 
STD screenings- recommended annual screening for sexually transmitted diseases like HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea.
 
Dental checkup- It is done to detect any disease of tooth and gums.
 
BMI- should be checked every year to check for obesity
 
Screening for cancer of colon and rectum (For Males) – Is recommended for adult males above 40 years. All healthy adult males should have stool occult blood tests done every year.
 
Prostrate cancer (For Males) - All healthy men should have digital rectal examination every year from age 40 years. And at age 50 PSA test should be done annually.
 
Tests specifically for Women:
Breast cancer screening- For adult females recommended every 1-2 years to detect and prevent breast cancer.
 
Cervical cancer screening- Pap smear – screening done every year. If after 30 years 3 consecutive checks results are normal, then have screening every 2-3 years.
 

If you never had any abnormal findings then you can stop being screened after 65 years of age.
