Children of cardiac patients are at high risk
Children with either parent having a cardiac problem are at a significantly higher risk of cardiac problems. Recent studies have shown that children with parents having cardiac problems are twice more likely to have higher cholesterol levels than those whose parents did not have a cardiac problem.
Though heredity is an unchangeable risk factor, there are other risk factors that you can manage to reducing the risks.
Unchangeable risk factors
1. Race: Indians are more likely to have a heart attack
2. Age: older people are at higher risk than younger
3. Gender: men are at higher risk than women
4. Heredity: children with either parent having a cardiac problem is at higher risk
Changeable risk factors
1. Cholesterol levels
2. Blood Pressure
3. BMI

3. Diabetes
If either of your parents have had a cardiac patient, consult a doctor and understand the check-ups you may need to do on a regular basis to identify risk factors early.
