Can Fruits Contribute To Preventing Weight Loss
As a Nutritionist, I am perplexed by the issue of weight plateau on individuals trying to lose weight. I try to suggest well-balanced low fat meals to my clients trying to shed excess weight.
There is always a time when the weight gets 'stuck' and going below a calorie deficit is not possible.
So, I take out my trick book and try to fool the weight (ofcourse, not the client ;) ).
Many weight management experts try some weird 'know-hows' to break the weight and these actually work.
Now, when I realise that my client's weight loss has stopped responding to the low calorie plans, firsltly I omit the 1-2 teaspoons of sugar which I generally allow. It works....and than the weight gets stuck.
I try stopping fuits for sometime, and believe me most of my clients show results. The weight starts to budge. Well, gradually when results progress I start back fruits in diet; ofcourse the low calorie ones and in small portions.
Okay; so what I am trying to say is no doubt fruits are healthy. Fruits are recommended as a part of well-balanced diet and nutritionists recommend atleast 9 servings of fruits in a day.
But, fruits are also sugars (fructose-fruit sugars) and can prevent weight loss if you are weight has hit the plateau.
So, my friends when you are on tight schedule and trying to see weight loss results; try omitting fruits in a diet for a week replacing with low calorie high fiber vegetables.
If you see good results; do let me know. And, I am open to debate by my fellow nutritionists to get some insight in to this.
