Ingredients:

Whole-wheat flour   4 cups
Skimmed milk   2 cups
Melted jaggery   1/3 cup
Salt   2 tsp
Yeast   10gs
Warm water   ¼ cup
 

Method:

  • Heat the milk to just before boiling, add melted jaggery to this & let it cool till it becomes lukewarm.
  • Dissolve yeast in the lukewarm water & then add to the above mixture & mix by stirring well.
  • In a large bowl, sieve the whole-wheat flour & salt together, make a well in the centre & slowly pour the liquid mixture, blending in the flour continuously. Make into a smooth dough.
  • Knead this dough well & cover the bowl with a moist cloth. Let the dough rise to double the size. Beat down the risen dough & knead well. Divide & transfer greased bread pans so that the pans are half full.
  • Allow to rise in a warm place until almost double.
  • Bake at 180?C for about 50 minutes until it shrinks from the sides of pans.
