Method: |
- Dice the peeled potatoes, shell peas and pressure-cook till it is three fourth cooked.
- Cook dhal with rice by adding 6 cups of water in pressure cooker till soft. (10 minutes)
- Soak tamarind and extract thick juice from it.
- Fry all the masala powder ingredients in half a teaspoon of oil, till light brown, finally add dry coconut, fry for another one minute and powder it.
- Heat oil and fry the peeled onion for 2 3 minutes. Add tamarind extract and boil till raw flavour goes from it.
- Mix salt, asafetida, cooked peas, potatoes and powdered spices to this.
- Pour this to the cooked rice mixture as soon as it is removed from pressure cooker and mix well
