Ingredients:

Refined flour (Maida)   40 g
Castor sugar   20 g
Butter   20 g
Cocoa powder   1 tsp
Baking powder   1/4 tsp
Milk   to make the dough
 

Method:

  • Sieve flour and baking powder together.
  • Cream butter and castor sugar till light.
  • Add flour and make soft dough using milk
  • Divide the dough in to two parts. To one part, add the cocoa powder and mix well.
  • Roll each part separately (about 1/8" thick) on a floured board, place the cocoa part on top of the white one.
  • Roll the two together and wrap in a grease proof paper. Allow to stand in a cool place for half an hour.
  • Cut in to 1/4" thick slice and place in a greased baking tray.
  • Bake in a moderately hot oven (3500 F) till golden brown in colour.
  • Cool on a wire rack before serving.
